Maisonette Pool View
Each Maisonette has its own small yard about 8-10 square meters where there is a table and chairs in the shade of creeping plants and flowers. From the yard you can get into the sitting room which has two built sofas in a corner, a comfortable chair and a marble counter. The 32" flat screen TV is found here. A ceiling ventilator can be used when it is not hot. For the hot summer days there is air conditioning. From the sitting room you can go both to the kitchen downstairs and to the bedroom upstairs. In the bedroom there are two single or a double bed with marble bedside tables, a dressing table with a stool and mirror, hair drier, wardrobe and another small table to put luggage on. In the kitchen apart from the basic equipment, that is sink, cupboards, cooking utensils, cups and dishes, there is a fridge, electric stove, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and a dining room table with chairs. There is also a safe and enough room for foods and supplies witch doesn't need refrigeration. On the same level next to the kitchen there is a bathroom with shower and warm water 24 hours a day. As each maisonette can accommodate 3 or 4 persons there is one more wardrobe next to the bathroom.

Koutouloufari is to the south east of Hersonissos Port about 1 km away from it. Built on the foot of a mountain it has a spectacular view. It offers its visitors all sorts of facilities such as restaurants and taverns which serve traditional Cretan, Mediterranean and international cuisine. Food, fruit, soft and alcoholic drinks are sold in several mini markets. Cafes, cafeterias, car and motor bike rentals, gift shops, jeweler shops can be found in its beautiful small streets.
During the day you can swim and sunbathe in small sandy bays just 850 m away from our hotel. In the evening you can walk in small streets or enjoy your dinner in a romantic atmosphere.
Another attractive proposition is to walk as far as the neighboring village of Piskopiano, 1000 m from Koutouloufari and then Hersonissos another 1000 m farther. Both villages are famous for their traditional Cretan architecture.
Those who prefer lively night life can go to Hersonissos Port, 1500m away, where bars and discs vibrate with music until the small hours. If you rent a car or motorbike you can visit the wonderful valley of Lagada and the plateau of Lassithi. The wild countryside, the rugged mountains and the island villages will be printed on your memory.
Public transport can take you to the west, to Heraklion, 25km away from Koutouloufari. Heraklion is famous for its archaeological sites, especially the Palace of Knossos, one of the most impressive sites in the world. The precious treasures of the Minoan civilization can be seen in its world famous Archaeological Museum.
It takes only 30 minutes by car to go to Agios Nikolaos to the east. It's the most picturesque town situated on the north coast of the island, famous for its beautiful natural environment.
There are not many places like Koutouloufari where a visitor can find such a rich variety of natural and historical beauty, entertainment and culture.

Directions to Villa Diktynna from Heraklion Intl. Airport (Estimated drive time: ½ hour) 1. Get on the National Road (E75) towards "Agios Nikolaos" (heading East) 2. Drive for about 21km 3. Take the exit towards "Limenas Hersonisou/Kastelli" 4. On the junction turn left towards ''Port of Hersonisos'' 5. Drive for about 2.6Km till the road ends and meets "Palea EO Irakliou - Agiou Nikolaou" 6. Turn right towards ''Agios Nikolaos" 7. Drive for 2.5 km towards "Port of Hersonisos" and then a further 2.1 km through the town 8. Take a sharp turn to the right by the supermarket "SPAR" HyperMarket 9. Drive uphill for about 900m 10. Villa Diktynna is on your left hand side at the end of the street and the entrance is around the corner

The pool, bar area and apartment were all immaculately clean. The bedding and towels were all bright white and smelt fresh and were embroidered with the name of the villas. The pillows were fluffy and the room was cleaned every couple of days. The room was well equipped and even had an iron and an electric fan and plenty of storage space. I stayed in the superior one bedroomed apartment and it was worth the small upgrade. There were dressing gowns and slippers, soft mattress toppers and an amazing private terrace with stunning views and sunbeds to lie out on. It is lovely to get up in the morning and step straight onto the terrace with unspoilt views of the sea and mountains and if you don't feel like being around other people at the pool you can stay on your own terrace and sunbathe in private. The pool area is fairly small but adequate for the amount of people that use it. The bar serves good value snacks and drinks and plays relaxing music during the day. Villa Diktynna was perfect for what I needed. I wanted a relaxing holiday in pretty accommodation that was personal and small and made you feel welcome. I got all of that here. If you want loud brash music, happy hour, kids play areas and entertainment every night then this is not the place for you. If you want great hospitality, peace and quiet and lovely views then you will love it. Vangelis is the man behind the daily running of Villa Diktynna and he will do anything to help. He has a great sense of humour and loves to chat at the bar, take photos and poke fun at people. He has a lot of knowledge about the island and is happy to sit down and share this with you. He is also brilliant at organising anywhere you need to go. My friend cut her foot while we were there and he even cleaned and dressed it to avoid any infection. If you are wondering whether to book this place just do it, as long as you leave room for me, I will be back as soon as possible! | 5 |
